In October of 91 Eric and I began planning to do another Rick Ranger comic. The first Rick Ranger comic series was actually notes that we passed to each other at school. This time we wanted a more professional (hah!) look. We decided that we would alternate drawing comics. Our friendship pretty much ended before #3. There was a seven month hiatus before I decided to finish to the series myself. Some of these comics are really hard to read, sorry about that!

#1 The quote "I'm Mad!" used by Dudley Doharm was taken from our Biology teacher Mrs. Eggleston. Once during a class (I was the teacher assistant) I took a pocket tape recorder and caught her saying it. Eric and I laughed and laughed. We decided to make the quote a permanent part of our beloved Ranger Comics. The part of the comic that shows Rick punching the metal plate that Dudley tricked him with and then we see Rick with his mask hanging off his face and a big SECRET sign covering his face was my idea. Eric originally showed Rick's face. I didn't like that idea so I later put the SECRET sign over his eyes to protect his identity.

#2 The Nathan Stout infamous bulging eyes and super extra large open mouth technique was used for the first time by Dudley in A.S.F. I would later use this technique many many times.

#3 I wanted to use as many of the concept character that Eric and I had made for A.S.F. so I began here. Dr. Weirdo is s featured here. Note the bad German accent. Also note that when Rick get shot with the anti-good formula you can plainly see his face. Oops!

#4 Although the president at the time was Bush, when the good guys are talking to the president it is obviously Regan they are talking to.

#5 Every once in a while we would like to draw but not to create a story. The commercial was born. These corny ads were just the thing for getting rid of the "drawing itch".

#6 Eric has always drawn neat explosions. The explosion of Rick's base was taken from one of Eric's explosion drawings. Is thought they looked so cool. Also, the first cameo of K-Mart (where Is was employed at the time).

#7 The first appearance of the new A.S.F. base.

#8 These comics were much like the commercial ones. I did not feel like creating a story so I made this technical page. Note the toothpaste and mouthwash in the crime fighting utility belt.

#9 The "TAP TAP" scene was a device we used from the very beginning. It is used in most of the comics.

#10 The character known as Captain Schizoid makes his debut in this comics.

#11 This comic was drawn really quickly and very sloppy. Note the first few frames of #12.

#12 The first frame or two of this comics is a joke. It is hard to discern unless you see the "RIP!" and the page folding back covering the identity of Rick Ranger.

#13 Rick Microchip returns (from the first series) to help Rick Ranger with a star punch.

#14 This comic was much like the commercial and technical page. A quick fix.

#15 This comics starts the 5 part story The Final Confrontation. It is not the final confrontation. Rick Ranger battles Dudley everyday, all the time.

#16 Take a look at the picture on the wall where Fireball and Kid Kourage are waiting for Rick. Check the last frame, I'm Mad!

#17 Rick Ranger is pushed to his limits as he takes up arms to defeat Dudley. This is out of character for Rick but hey, Dudley has turned Mr. Rogers evil!

#18 Rick has to deck Kourage and Fireball to escape and destroy Dudley.

#19 Rick does away with Dudley's troops and begins chasing Dudley himself.

#20 Is actually forgot about the missile that Dudley launched. Luckily Is hadn't finished the series before Is remembered to do away with the missile. Is had also planned for this to be the last time Is would draw Rick Ranger and his friends. Is couldn't help myself, G.C.C. Adventures followed.
